NSI-1000: vessel data, voyage data and the AIS display

When choosing AIS class A, the buyer needs a clear work post: what information the ship transmits, what the watch sees about neighboring ships and where this data comes from. The NSR NSI-1000 in River Marine Pro is offered as a set with a separate transceiver, display and antennas. Let’s analyze it as an operating system for the exchange of marine information – from source data to the desktop. This helps to order equipment for your installation and determine the crew tasks in advance.

Transceiver and display perform different tasks

In the NSI-1000 system, the radio unit exchanges AIS data, and the MKD display serves as a display and control workplace. The presence of a screen in the cabin does not describe the entire order. You need space for the transceiver, power supply, antenna lines and connection between parts. For the owner, this is one setup, so it is reasonable to compare quotation on the full composition and boundaries of work.

River Marine Pro's own card lists the NSI-1000T and seven-inch NSI-1000D, the NGA100 GNSS antenna with 20 m cable, the NVA100 VHF antenna with mounting, bracket, 5 m data cable and power supply cable 2 m. This is what we are discussing in quotation. The division of standard accessories and options in the manufacturer's manual may differ from the composition of our commercial kit: the final list must be specified in the CP.

Own-vessel information: static, dynamic and voyage-related data

The NSI-1000 manual separates vessel particulars, dynamic data and voyage information. Vessel particulars include, for example, name, call sign, MMSI and dimensions. Position, speed and course over ground contribute to the current traffic picture; heading information depends on the available source. Destination, expected arrival and draught need attention when a voyage changes. In the manual reviewed, ETA is entered in UTC.

For operation, it is useful to assign in advance who is responsible for the initial marine information and who updates the data before exit. Purchasing new equipment alone does not eliminate a name error, an old destination, or mismatched sizes. The installer receives valid ship documents; the crew is left with a clear procedure for working with variable information for the installed version of the device.

After changing the task, it is worth checking the content, not just the fact of inclusion. For example, the ship received a different direction of transportation, and the previous place of arrival remained in the field. This situation requires the correction of the initial information by the responsible specialist, not the replacement of the antenna or increase in power. In the application for new equipment, it is useful to indicate both the preparation of equipment and the transfer of working instructions to the crew.

Neighbouring AIS target - additional information for the watch

The NSI-1000 receives information from surrounding AIS participants and displays targets on its screen. It is important for the buyer to understand the origin of this picture: it is formed by received messages, not by reflection from any object around. Therefore, the presence of a target with a name does not mean that all ships, obstacles and small objects in the area are detected in this way.

Before ordering, describe how the watch works: where the main screen is located, whether a separate radar is used, where AIS data is already received, and what you need to save after replacement. AIS helps to compare information about the participants of the movement with other available environment. Manoeuvre decisions are not assigned to a single target list; radar surveillance, visual control, and established routines remain separate parts of marine practice.

Data sources and consumers are identified by models

The manufacturer provides connections to external shipboard equipment, including GNSS, a heading source, radar and an electronic chart system. This allows connections to be designed for a project; it does not provide a universal adapter for every instrument. For an existing installation, identify exact models, available interfaces, data-flow directions and the connections to be retained.

Separate the enquiry into two parts: what already operates on board and what the new AIS must add. If information must appear on another display, identify that display. If the existing heading source is retained, specify its version. A photograph of an occupied connector cannot establish compatibility; agree cables, interface accessories and configuration against the selected system’s documentation.

Complete set with clear installation boundaries

Quotation of own card - the price in the card of goods for a full set; at the time of inspection one such item is indicated. The balance, condition, issue, current price and documents are confirmed in writing before the order. The catalog image shows the radio unit and display. Antennas and other accessories are included in the inventory under discussion, but are not represented in this photo.

To calculate the installation, you need information about the location of the display and radio unit, power supply and real routes to the antennas. The length of a complete cable does not prove that it will be enough on a particular ship. When changing the track, the composition is supplemented by agreed positions and the total cost. Work, delivery and provided documents are allocated explicitly so that the price of the hardware set is not perceived as the price of a turnkey installation.

The MC/RKO documents are mentioned in the card; their applicability is checked for a specific configuration and marine project. Ordering one model is not a promise of admitting any installation. When applying from Astrakhan, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Aktau or another region, send the type of vessel, existing equipment, the task of the new post and the delivery city. We will prepare a subject quotation for the system with an inventory and coordinated works.

The card shows the price and shows one complete set. The current price, balance, configuration, condition and inventory will be confirmed before the order. The transceiver, display, GNSS and VHF antennas, mountings and provided cables are coordinated in one set. Documents for a particular vessel, installation, configuration and delivery - according to the agreed volume. It is not a public offer.
