NAS-1000: position messages and AIS-SART identification

NAS-1000 is an AIS-SART device for locating persons in distress. River Marine Pro lists it with the price on the product page for a package to be agreed. Its purpose is to transmit position messages and allow a particular emergency source to be identified. Consider both ends of the system: the device carried by the survival craft and the equipment through which the receiving party obtains its information.

Coordinate message instead of regular marine record

The NAS-1000 manual describes the built-in GNSS receiver and location transmission over two AIS channels. It's a standalone emergency device. Its role is different from the permanent marine AIS, which transmits ship information and maintains the bridge’s work post.

Therefore, a request for a NAS-1000 should not be made as a selection of a conventional AIS class A or B with a display. Here you choose the AIS-SART device provided for a specific equipment task. If you need a regular marine transceiver at the same time, it is considered a separate position with its composition and connections.

The appearance of the equipment is consistent with this role. The original photograph shows the markings NAS-1000 and AIS-SART on a separate orange transmitter. A receiving display, external radio, telescopic pole and full set of accessories are not shown. The order inventory determines whether they are included; the photograph does not.

The ID belongs to the device itself.

Section 1 of the published NAS-1000 OM.E 20170920-05 identifies a unique AIS-SART identifier. It is programmed during manufacture and indicated on the body. The described structure begins with 970, followed by the manufacturer and product number. Change of such identifier management refers to the manufacturer.

This is essential for a buyer who is used to ordering AIS along with the introduction of marine MMSI. The data of a particular NAS-1000 cannot be substituted for an arbitrary vessel number in the application just because both systems use AIS. When transferring equipment, it is important to maintain the relationship of the model, marking and documents with the proposed device.

If the kit is transferred to another owner or distributed among several ships of the organization, start with the exact identification of the products. Do not turn the company's internal inventory number into a claimed change to the radio ID. Design and applicability issues are agreed separately; the general AIS programming service does not describe automatically permissible work with AIS-SART.

The host post has its own opportunities

The transmitter generates messages, and the marine receiving system must receive them and present them to the user in a supported form. These are two different products. The very presence of the letters AIS in the name of a screen does not confirm the work of a certain bundle of devices and versions of programs.

For technical discussion, it is useful to name the installed transceiver or receiver, display and available connections. You need to understand which device receives messages and which one is responsible for displaying. When transferring data to an additional screen, its model and software configuration are also included in the project description.

Purchasing the NAS-1000 does not automatically update the software of other devices. If the customer needs to check the existing host post, these works are set separately with specialists. The review does not offer an emergency turn on to demonstrate a purchase or send a real signal to check supply.

Why distance is not a single unconditional number

On the manufacturer's page for the NAS-1000, a figure of at least five nautical miles is given. In the product description section, the manual associates this assessment with certain heights of the transmitting and receiving antennas. Therefore, a characterization cannot be translated into a promise of the same reception on any ship and anywhere.

For the buyer, the supplied contents matter: the telescopic pole and specified mounting hardware have particular roles within the device package. The pole’s length alone does not establish the geometry of every actual installation or the receiving party’s readiness. Use the documentation for the agreed version to determine placement and operation.

Operational assistance does not depend on one product card. The quotation does not include a promise that any surrounding screen will detect the device immediately, or a guaranteed time of arrival for help. The commercial task is to deliver a certain AIS-SART and a consistent hardware set with clear documents.
