JMA-3300: GAIN, SEA and RAIN for clutter and weak echoes

When selecting the JMA-3300, it is useful to evaluate which marks remain distinguishable after image adjustment. A screen with less interference does not confirm that weak targets are seen better. Prior to purchase, coordinate the demonstration of GAIN, SEA and RAIN on the proposed configuration and technical guide of the result with the trained operator.

Three adjustments change the picture differently

In the JRC manual for the series, GAIN is responsible for reception sensitivity. Excessive magnification increases background noise; too low levels can make it difficult to detect targets. SEA suppresses reflections from waves, reducing sensitivity at short distances. With excessive suppression, weak marks can disappear, for example, from buoys and small ships.

RAIN is designed to interfere with rain and snow. Excessive use can also impair the visibility of small targets. Therefore, the result is evaluated by the observed environment and marks, and not by one impression from a cleaned screen.

What to ask for before deciding

Describe the conditions of your task: work near the shore, on open water or on a limited area, typical precipitation and objects that are especially important to distinguish. Agree on the format in which the display is possible – on the existing installation, when entering on the ship or on available materials. The possibility of a specific demonstration is confirmed separately.

For discussion, prepare a couple of comparable observations. Write down the initial state and what changed after working with the selected adjustment. If the conditions, scale, or position of the vessel have changed, note this: two beautiful photographs of different situations do little to understand the influence of a single control. The result of the test is related to its conditions, not to all possible weather circumstances.

Automation needs to be understood

In the read edition, the Auto SEA and Auto RAIN instructions are not selected at the same time. Applicability and control of modes are verified against the documentation of the proposed configuration. Universal suppression percentages or the position of regulators for any vessel are not specified here.

When transferring equipment, it is useful to show the operator how to recognize the selected mode and where to find the desired section of the manual. Separately coordinate the transfer of documentation in a language that the crew understands. Training, demonstration and setup should be directly included in the scope of work if they are needed by the customer.

What to include in the quotation on radar

Our JRC JMA-3300 card indicates see the product page. Before buying, we fix the exact configuration, scanner, cable and supplies supplied; the price of the card does not mean any configuration of the series. The demonstration and verification program can be attached to the task as a separate document. The technical capabilities of the series and the actual state of the proposed system are checked separately.

In the request, specify what conditions should be considered when entering, who participates in the display and what result should be recorded. If work with weak marks is important, write - one item "check inclusion" is not enough for this task. The numerical criteria and verification procedure are agreed upon for a specific project.

Delivery to St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Astrakhan, Vladivostok, Aktau and other cities of Russia and Kazakhstan is calculated at the address and composition of the order. Send the quantity, data of the vessel and the desired term - prepare a quotation with clear boundaries of equipment and work.

Questions before ordering

Can you choose one position of regulators for any weather?

In this material, universal values are not set. Settings refer to the observed conditions and the applicable instruction.

Does a cleaner screen prove better detection?

Nope. Weak useful marks can be suppressed along with interference; the result is evaluated by the trained operator.
