EXPLORER 727: LAN, PoE and a telephone for a vehicle installation
EXPLORER 727 is selected for a vehicle-mounted BGAN satellite installation: an external tracking antenna works with an indoor terminal to which telephones and computers connect. For a shore-service vehicle, define both the satellite service and the local workstation network in advance. The four LAN ports, IP handset power and separate ISDN connection serve different purposes; connectors of the same shape do not necessarily provide the same interface.

One car - several ways of communication
For example, a technical team serves facilities along the coast, and the machine is used as an equipped workplace. An engineer needs a wired computer, a coordinator needs a phone, and an additional device needs its own network connection. The EXPLORER 727 is considered to be the central part of such a post, along with the antenna, power supply and user equipment.
It's a car model. The name River Marine Pro and its neighbouring marine products do not make it a Fleet One terminal or a GMDSS facility. A separate suitable solution is selected for the vessel; its own routes and operating conditions are described for the shore vehicle. In a mobile unit, these tasks can exist simultaneously, but equipment should not be mixed in one position.
The manufacturer provides simultaneous voice and data transmission. The specific service, route availability and application operation are agreed separately. External satellite communication and the network inside the machine form two parts of the project: a proper connection of the laptop to the terminal does not in itself confirm the availability of the company’s remote service.
LAN and ISDN: similar housing, different purpose
The EXPLORER 727 installation manual lists four Ethernet LANs with IEEE 802.3af PoE, a separate ISDN in the RJ-45 connector and two analog Phone/Fax RJ-11. LAN ports serve the user network. The ISDN connector is a different interface; it is not considered a fifth Ethernet connection because of its similar shape.
When maintaining old equipment, transfer models of computers, telephone and additional network equipment. For each position, it should be clear what interface it uses and where it gets power supply. A cable with a suitable plug does not replace such coordination. Connections are performed according to the documentation of the selected configuration, and not by selecting the nest by eye.
The number of connectors does not include four independent satellite channels. For a few users, you need to discuss the general nature of sharing: who is talking, who is sending prepared files, and which apps work simultaneously. If wireless access is required, the relevant equipment is included in a separate part of the composition; four LANs do not mean ready Wi-Fi around the machine.
Why a Free Port Does Not Mean a PoE Stock
Manual 98-126844-E specifies the total output budget of four PoE interfaces: 32 W with terminal power supply from 12 V and 64 W at 24 V. This is up to 15.4 W per port. These are power supply limitations of connected devices, not the speed of satellite exchange or the consumption of an entire car post.
Therefore, the statement includes devices that do require PoE, with their characteristics. Not every computer is powered by Ethernet, and the same number of connections can give a different load. The three free nests do not prove the possibility of adding three to any consumer. For a stored switch or other equipment, compatibility and proprietary power supply are also confirmed.
The difference between the power supply option of the car and the local load should be clear before purchase. The proposed kit is calculated in its entirety; switching the installation to a different voltage is not a tip from this article. The IP handset depends on its network power supply
The cited manual assigns the highest power priority to the first LAN port when the PoE budget is insufficient, and recommends that port for the IP handset. This concerns the order in which power is disconnected, not a promise of higher data rates or telephone-traffic priority. According to the documentation, PoE is disabled while the terminal maintains its own power after an input-power interruption.
For the buyer, the practical difference follows: the state of the terminal itself and the power supply of the dependent negotiation device must be considered together. If the phone is to remain available in an agreed power supply breach, it is a separate requirement for the entire node design. One stored indicator of the internal unit does not confirm the operation of each accessory.
