Power Supply Marine Equipment: Where it Supplies

More than half of all electronic failures on a ship are power supply rather than electronics. We analyze exactly where the chain breaks and what to put so that the devices do not go into restart at the right time.

Launch drawdown

Radar, satellite terminal and powerful VHF on the turn on take much more current than in operation. If the circuit is calculated “according to working consumption”, at start-up the voltage falls, and the device is reloaded. To count the cross section and the machine need to start current, not passport average.

Onboard network and its quality

On a ship with a generator, the voltage walks when large consumers are turned on. Electronics is experiencing this, but the picture on the radar screen is noisy, and the communication “quakes”. It is treated with a normal junction and a separate power supply line for navigation equipment, rather than a more expensive device.

Converters 24 by 12

13.2V devices cannot be hung directly on a 24-volt network. The converter is taken with a stock of current at least one and a half times and put where it blows: overheated goes into protection, and the device goes out for no apparent reason.

Reserve batteries

The backup power supply GMDSS is checked not by voltage without load, but under load - the saturated battery shows normal volts and falls under current. Keep the installation date: change the date regardless of how the battery looks.

What to clarify when selecting

The voltage of the onboard network, the list of consumers with starting currents, whether there is a generator and how far the shield from the devices. Based on this data, we will select chargers, converters and cable. The entire catalogue is below.
