Gyrocompass system integration

A gyrocompass system includes more than the main instrument. A complete bridge heading system includes repeaters at operating stations and a backup heading source. Instruments with the NMEA-0183 (IEC 61162) interface can extend the system; compatibility with a particular gyrocompass, including Tokyo Keiki TG-8000 / TG-8100, must be checked against the data format, electrical connections and settings. The Ruian range offers the following options: - 19-F repeater — a bearing repeater for the bridge wing; with the 19-FY bearing device or LJ-1 pelorus, it forms a complete bearing station; BJ-1/BJ-2 mounts. - CF-3 repeater — a compass card and digital readout for watchkeeping stations. - CF-5 repeater — a compact digital display for the chart station and backup use. - CY-LJ18 sensor (RMRS certificate) or TMC-D/U — fitted to the magnetic compass: its heading becomes a second, independent source on the same network. A typical expansion order includes 19-F + BJ-1 + 19-FY (bearing station), CF-5 (digital heading at the chart station), and CY-LJ18 (backup heading). Wiring diagrams are provided in article F3.

Ruian CF-3 heading repeater
Ruian CF-3: a repeater with a compass card and digital readout. The interface and wiring must be agreed using the system documentation.
Ruian CF-5 digital heading repeater

A bridge-wing repeater and an additional operating station

For a seagoing tug near Novorossiysk, first describe the existing heading source and every station that needs a heading display. When adding a repeater, specify its location, the functions required by the operator and the connections already installed. List the instrument, mounting and accessories separately: a similar appearance does not establish an identical purpose.

On a Baltic passenger vessel, extending the bridge may involve different work from replacing one faulty display. For repairs in Kaliningrad, a diagram of the equipment being retained and the outputs intended for use is helpful. Check data-format, electrical and configuration compatibility for the selected versions. Do not automatically apply one repeater kit to every vessel in a company fleet.
