NTW-1000: handheld VHF GMDSS with two batteries for emergency and operating mode

The handheld VHF station in the GMDSS kit is not a spare two-way radio "just in case", but a device with two different lives. On a normal day, she works from the cabin and from the deck, in the emergency she goes into the lifeboat and must keep in touch for hours while the rescue operation is underway. The NSR NTW-1000 is a classic representative of this class, and it is now in stock - four pieces.

Two batteries, two modes.

The main feature of the NTW-1000 is two batteries. Rechargeable - for daily work: put on charging after the watch, as befits the operated radio. An emergency long-life is a sealed, long-shelf element that lies in a charged state for months and does not require attention until a disaster occurs. This separation eliminates the main marine inventory mistake: when a single battery is discharged exactly when it is needed.

Before each flight check both: rechargeable - for capacity and contacts, emergency - for shelf life, which is printed on the element. The GMDSS inspector asks for exactly that.

RRR and RMRS: Why do two registers exist?

NTW-1000 is certified by the Russian River Register and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The river register allows a station on inland waterways, the sea - in the GMDSS marine kit. For a vessel sailing both on the river and at sea, this is one purchase instead of two: we send the documents together with the quotation, and there are no questions on the examination.

Where she's kept and what she's working with.

On the bridge, the station lives in a charger at the watch station, in an emergency kit - in a lifeboat container along with an emergency battery. To it buy a spare battery and charging for the marine network: the handheld station charging cycle is short, and it is more convenient to keep two rechargeable batteries on rotation than one “up to the last”. Frequencies are programmed for the marine area: the ship's working channels, the emergency channel 16 and, for river routes, the inland waterway channels.

How many stations to take on board

The number is guided by the number of watches and emergency reserve requirements: each lifeboat is equipped with its own station with an emergency battery, plus bridge workstations. For a small composition often enough two or three, for trains with duties – count together on your ship.
