The sonar or sonar is operated on a ship that rises on a wave and changes its tilt. One course of the nose is not enough to describe this movement. When selecting JRC JLR-21, it is useful to consider a separate task: to transmit pitching information to a compatible receiving device. Then the satellite compass is chosen not only for the indication of the direction on the bridge, but also as a source of certain data for the coordinated system.

Which movements should be distinguished

Roll stands for transverse tilt, pitch stands for longitudinal, and heave stands for vertical displacement. They describe different sides of the movement; the angle of the course and the trajectory relative to the ground do not replace them. For the receiving sonar or sonar, it is first found out which of these quantities he can use and for which operation. The name “navigation input” does not answer this question.

In Official brochure JLR-21 JRC indicates roll, pitch, and heave, with the heave function enabled as standard. Manufacturer uses fish-finding devices and sonars in excitement. This confirms the direction of use of the movement data, but not universal compatibility with any device and not automatic readiness of the entire complex for measurement or hydrographic work.

Not only a wire is needed, but also an understandable recipient.

The JRC specification lists ATT and HVE among the output quotations. For the project, check whether a particular recipient understands the desired message, how the fields are interpreted and what type of entry mode is required. The format versions, message combinations, line speed and intervals are agreed upon according to the documentation of both instruments. The presence of a serial interface does not establish readiness for exchange.

Specify the exact model and version of the sonar or sonar software. If it already receives the coordinates and course, adding the pitch data still requires a separate check. Displaying the course on the recipient's screen does not prove that the recipient is accepting the vertical movement or is applying it in processing. You need a verifiable result of the selected function, not the general status of “navigation connected”.

Source accuracy and sonar result

The brochure for JLR-21 lists roll and pitch 0.5° rms and heave 20 cm rms. These are the characteristics of the source of motion. They cannot be made into a promise that any depth will be corrected with the same precision. The result is influenced by the receiving equipment, its settings, the received offsets and timing. One compass parameter does not describe the error of the entire measurement chain.

Separately coordinate the location of the sensor relative to the vessel and the reference point used. The installer must know where the data is being transmitted from and what the receiving system refers to. If the external application provides for transformations or amendments, they are performed according to their own documents and tasks. It should not be assumed that a JLR-21 connection automatically calibrates someone else’s sensor or mechanically stabilizes the antenna and emitter.

How to Check the Benefits of Connected Data

To receive, coordinate an available check of the input stream and signs of its use by the recipient. A heave may be visible at the source and another input selected at the second instrument; such an event must be detected before the system is put into operation. Record assigned ports, messages, parameters and versions. It also checks the comprehensible behavior in the temporary absence of data: the old value should not be imperceptibly taken for a new movement.

JLR-21 provides a graphical display of roll, pitch, heave and SOG history. It is useful for observing changes at the source itself, but does not replace the output line and the result in the receiving instrument. It is better to write down the criteria in advance: the presence of the desired values, the correct direction of changes, the received setting and the coordinated work of the recipient function. The comparison is done on a specific composition, without the promise to correct any fluctuations in the image with a single connection.

Buy JLR-21 for a consistent system

The main commodity is JRC JLR-21 at River Marine Pro. The valid card specifies RUB 660,000 and availability status; availability of a specific kit and deadline are confirmed when ordering. The image shows the antenna part of the JRC. The display, cables, accessories and works are listed in the quotation separately; the photograph does not establish their presence in the supply.

Give the receiver model, the desired movement values, the documentation of its entry and the existing scheme. For Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, St. Petersburg, Almaty or Astana, we will coordinate the composition and delivery. If the task needs only a course, it is a different amount of interfacing; if you need the data of the pitch, include them in the task to be checked, together with the settings and the result on the receiving device.

These movements are useful when used by the recipient.
  1. JLR-21: roll, pitch and heave
  2. Agreed port, messages and settings
  3. Compatible entrance of sonar or sonar
  4. Confirmed processing function on the recipient

Format or regime not supported Separate solution for the project, without the promise of a universal adapter

Data are temporarily missing Clear agreed status, not hidden old meaning

Interfacing Functional Scheme. This is not mechanical stabilization, it is not universal compatibility, and it is not confirmation of the accuracy of a complete measuring complex.

Questions before buying

Does any sonar use heave after connecting JLR-21?

Confirmed recipient support is required: messages, format versions, line parameters and the required processing function. The connection itself and the presence of coordinates do not yet prove the use of pitching data.

20 cm rms - accuracy of corrected depth of the whole complex?

This is the JRC heave characteristic for the source. The error of the result of the receiving device depends on the entire coordinated chain and is not set by one parameter of the compass.

Does JLR-21 mechanically stabilize the sonar sensor?

In this scenario, it transmits the movement data to a compatible receiver. Mechanical stabilization, calibration of other people’s equipment and readiness for hydrographic work are not declared as an automatic result of the purchase.
